Quiet Night Skies

Night Skyline Red Lake

As I set out from my home station, I was surprised to see that Night Lake and Sky shots Oct 9 09_3581 for Onlinethere was a little bit of viewable sky.  Of course, as I got out in the yard I saw the perfect example of a planed low in the horizon the was displaying the best example of Atmospheric Convection.

Now I will be the first one to admit that I am Night Lake and Sky shots Oct 9 09 (8)_3573 for Onlinenot 100% positive that this is what is causing the shifting light of the planets and stars that I have capturing on HD video.  It is something that I learned from one of my viewers, but he did seem quite informed on the subject.

Of course I was not surprised that by the time I got back to the house, and back to the front with my cameras, it was behind a very thick cloud.

As the photo below shows, there was some minor movement, due to a plane flying at very high altitude (two actually).  Night Lake and Sky shots Oct 9 09 (7)_3572 for Online

If you click on the photo to the right, you will see a light steak in the left about 15° from the horizon.

It's too bad as if I could have gotten some HD footage, it would have been just one more example of the natural effect that is becoming so common as the cause for so many of today's "UFO" sightings.

As I mentioned earlier in this post, as I am not 100% sure that is the cause of the shifting light colors, if anyone here reading this has a better, or more "Educated" opinion, please leave a comment here.

I am always looking for scientific explanations to what I capture.

Here are a few more shots from the evening, well lit with it's Waning Gibbous moon.
